Project Manager

Position Description:  The Gartrell Group seeks a detail-oriented, creative, and ambitious Project Manager to join our team. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with multiple growth pathways for someone with a technical background and interest in leading a hardworking, fun-loving team keenly invested in the geographic information systems (GIS) space. The position is an opportunity for continual learning, including exposure to and daily use of new geospatial technology, project management software, and emerging methodologies. The ideal candidate will employ and grow their technical and project management skills as they work with our team of designers, solution architects, engineers, and QA staff to bring projects from discovery through to delivery and deployment. The Project Manager will help to influence and shape our fun-loving and inspired team and management methodologies as we scale to meet increasing service demands. 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fully lead multiple smaller or ongoing service delivery projects, including multi-year technical engagements involving multiple delivery partners and large numbers of stakeholders 

  • Help maintain and enrich customer-centered management & communications on technical projects and ongoing service delivery 

  • Help track and organize team activities and allocations across different projects 

  • Support project reporting, invoicing, and monitoring of KPIs 

  • Implement changes in PM systems to increase their efficiency, value, and consistency across accounts, engagements, and projects 

  • Track and guide work activities, progress, status, risk, budgets, and alignment to project/customer goals 

  • Run daily stand-up meetings, backlog grooming sessions, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies 

  • Support closer integration of work streams and optimal tooling and procedures among team members in business analysis, solution design, development, and testing 

  Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • PMP Certificate Desired 

  • 3+ years in a business or technical field, or equivalent education 

  • Knowledge of and experience with Agile methods 

  • Experience with Atlassian products (e.g., Jira, Confluence) 

  • Proficient in Office software, including MS Project 

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills – what questions do you ask to really get to the root of the matter? 

  • Eager to learn, adapt and perfect your work; you are curious but seek out help when needed and put it to good use 

  • You are very personable - an excellent communicator (both written and verbal) who enjoys interacting with others 

  • You are independent and resourceful – able to work in a rapidly evolving environment and develop creative solutions to meet conflicting needs 

  • You are highly responsible and self-motivated, with exceptional attention to detail 

Location: Remote 

Job Type: Part-time, contract-to-hire 

Schedule: Monday to Friday, Day Shift, Central-to-Pacific Time
