GIS Business Analyst

Position Description: 

This full-time position offers a skilled Business Analyst the opportunity to identify, articulate, and help apply the critical business needs that must be addressed to ensure our team continues delivering customer-centered solutions that deliver value and impact.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives and geospatial requirements.

  • Conduct business process analysis and identify opportunities for leveraging GIS technology.

  • Gather and document detailed business, functional, and non-functional requirements for GIS projects.

  • Translate business requirements into actionable specifications and user stories to be used by software engineers to guide development and testing efforts.

  • Help develop and present GIS solution proposals, including cost-benefit analysis and implementation plans.

  • Coordinate with technical teams to ensure the successful implementation of GIS solutions.

  • Provide expertise in geospatial workflows, data management, and GIS software systems.

  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in GIS technology. 

 Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Business Analyst, with a focus on GIS or geospatial technology.

  • Exposure to utility-focused GIS solutions, including the Esri UN

  • Strong understanding of geospatial workflows, data management, and GIS software systems

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and technical teams.

  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools.

Location: Flexible—remote is fine, but if you happen to be in Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, or Chicago, IL, on-site is an option.

Travel: Limited, occasional travel
